Mr Andrew Macpherson

Biography

Andrew has over 35 years of industry experience across a wide range of services, sectors and asset classes.

Andrew is the Head of Asset Development, APAC, for JLL.

His responsibilities include leading a regional team in developing and delivering a range of solutions for Investors, Developers and Owner Occupiers aimed at adding value to their real esate portfolios.

Andrew started his career as a Quantity Surveyor in the UK.

Since moving overseas 30 years ago, Andrew’s experience and core skills have expanded to include most aspects of planning, creating and operating built assets.

Andrew moved to Hong Kong with Citex in 1999.

Citex was the pioneer of 1st Generation FM outsourcing in Hong Kong starting with CWHKT followed a couple of years later with FM outsourcing for HSBC.

Abstract

Over the years, the real estate industry has been relatively slow to adopt technology.

The one-off nature of buildings, the complexity of buildings, resistance to change and cost have been the main factors holding our industry back from adopting and embedding technology.

With the advent of Artificial Intelligence, we are starting to see a faster evolution of smart-building technology together with ever increasing levels of adoption, especially with the younger generation entering our industry.

A 2024 survey revealed that 77% of CEOs believe AI will have a significant impact on their industries over the next three years.

At JLL, we've discovered that combining intelligent, AI-enabled platforms with a disciplined strategy guided by real estate expertise significantly enhances the success rate of real estate transformation journeys.

In my presentation, I will explore how our AI is causing a paradigm shift in our industry and how we can leverage it to deliver increasing benefits to all stakeholders.
